2021 Hyundai Elantra Power and Performance
The new 2021 Hyundai Elantra comes in no fewer than four engine options. The base engine that powers the majority of Elantra vehicles is a basic 2.0 inline-four engine that puts out 147 horsepower with 132 lb-ft in torque.
At the Elantra N-Line trim level, you instead get a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four which makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. At the Elantra N trim level, you get a turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter engine. This one gives you an impressive 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque.
Finally, at the SEL and Limited trim levels, you can opt for an available hybrid version of the turbo 1.6-liter engine. From this, you’ll get 139 horsepower, 195 lb-ft of torque, and excellent fuel economy both on the highway and in the city.
Elantra Trim Levels and Features
You can choose from one of five trim levels for the new Elantra. The “core three” trim levels are the basic SE level, the SEL mid-range trim, or the feature-packed Limited. If you want to go for more of a performance end, check out the N-Line or Elantra N trim levels.
Base features include dual USB ports, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless integration for your Android and Apple devices. At the SEL trim level, you get extra convenience and comfort like the push-button start, automatic dual-zone climate control, and keyless entry features. You also get improved infotainment with six speakers and satellite radio.
You can also choose from a few add-on packages, which make features available like wireless device charging, premium sound system from Bose, and power adjustable, heated seats. The Limited trim gives you a bigger 10.25 touchscreen and enhanced voice command features for even more convenience.
At the N-Line trim level, you get mid-range technology, but you also get a sport-tuned suspension, shocks, and springs for track-like handling. The Elantra N builds on the N-Line and gives you beefier brakes with adaptive dampers on the suspension, sport front seats, and some additional appearance touches.
You get the full range of available safety technology, much of it at the base level, like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and a Driver Attention Warning. Additional features at higher trim levels enhance your front crash avoidance and add Smart Cruise Control for distance monitoring, rear automatic braking, and more.
